Episode Summary:

On this episode we talk about the importance of us as parents to listen to our teenage children as well as setting the right atmosphere in the home for everyone to grow spiritually.
I also start with part 1 of my interview with my oldest daughter Sarah Isabella Urrego (Bella) about the challenges she has faced going to public school and what she has done to overcome these challenges.

Some of the items we talk about on this episode are as follows:

1. The purpose of this episode and the importance of listening to your teenage son or daughter first before you lash out at them for misbehavior.

2. The importance of us as parents creating the right atmosphere in our homes to open up an avenue for the Holy Spirit to work both in your child and in you as the parent.

3. Why in order for you to be an overcomer of anything in this life (as stated in Revelation 3), God allows you to be put in situations so that you can have the opportunity to overcome.

4. Why is it important for a young teenage girl to know why modesty is important to God and why it should be important to all young teenage girls, especially Christian girls.

5. How to handle anti Biblical views at a public school as a student and what how it is important as a parent to discuss these views with your child in light of the Word.

6. The importance of teaching your children why we do what we do and how when something is revealed to your child, it will in turn be easier for your child to follow through with it.

7. The latest trends in public schools amongst young people regarding fashion, music, and culture that try to creep in amongst Christian young people.

Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

And with that being said, also, if you have an awesome testimony or, or even know someone that would make a great guest on the podcast, uh, let us know.

[00:03:17] Also, uh. Um, cause we’re always looking for more believers that we can glean from, uh, individuals that we can learn from here on this platform. I think it’s become a, a blessing to others. And so if you know of anybody or if you would like to be part of the part of the, uh, of an episode, uh, then certainly let us know.

[00:03:38] Just contact us either by or through email or through, uh, even Facebook. You can contact us there as well. Um, and last but not least, and I want to get these announcements out of the way. I wanted to put them at the beginning of the episode before we continue with the episode. Um. Uh, I wanted to make, [00:04:00] um, I wanted to announce that, uh, to all of our listeners, that our episodes will be published on a weekly basis from, from now on, uh, on every Saturday.

[00:04:10] Uh, and you’ve probably already started noticing this. Um, if you’ve subscribed to the episodes, to the podcast, uh, you’ve probably already started noticing this in the last two previous episodes. And the reason for this is because that makes it easier on me since. Since, uh, creating podcasts is not an easy task.

[00:04:30] Um, you know, trying to get the actual interview scheduled, uh, to editing the audio and publishing the episodes on the website, the podcast platforms as well as Facebook. It takes a lot of work. Um, but you know, I always try to keep the end goal in mind. And that is, if I can help just one soul draw closer to our Lord Jesus Christ through these interviews, uh, videos and other forms of content that we put out, you know what?

[00:05:00] [00:04:59] It’s, it’s worth it all. And so, uh, you pray for us, um, as we endeavor to do this, um, I don’t get any monetary, uh, uh, any, anything monetary. This is all just for the honor and glory of the Lord. Um, and so. Um, you just pray for us. And so that’s the reason why we’re going to, um, to a weekly, um, podcast, uh, publishing.

[00:05:25] Um, then that way it’ll give me more time during the week and just kind of, uh, give me, give me more time to, to prepare episodes as well as work on other, other projects regarding the 10,000 worlds project. Um. That I’d want to work on, create more videos and things as such. So I just wanted to make, put that out there.

[00:05:47] But, um, anyways, uh, without further further ado, I’m gonna go ahead and start this episode. Uh, this is episode number 11. And, um. It is a little different from all the [00:06:00] previous ones that we’ve done already. Because on this episode, I actually sit down with my oldest daughter, Bella, and have an interview with her.

[00:06:10] And the reason why I created this episode is to give an example of how us as parents can dialogue with our sons. And daughters, especially our teenage children. Uh, just like as if you’re talking to a friend, uh, or as if they are talking back to a friend their age. And this of course, is not in any way to toot my own horn whatsoever and say, Oh, well how perfect we raise our children, because I’ll be the first one to tell you that we have made and continue to make lots of mistakes in raising our children.

[00:06:44] But you know, many times I think that us as parents, we feel that we have to lecture our teenage children and beat them upside the head for a lack of better word, for every attitude, eye roll or smart comment they met [00:07:00] that they make back to us a when in actuality what they may need is just someone to talk to.

[00:07:07] To let out any, uh, frustrations that they may be feeling at the moment for whatever reason. And, uh, you know, us as parents, we, we add to that frustration by the way we talk to them and by the words and the tones we, we use to, uh, add them at the moment, which in turn leads to smart comments, which in turn, which then leads to a confrontation, which then leads to you punishing them.

[00:07:35] Which leads to more frustration on their part because they never got to let out what it is that’s bothering them, which leads to a broken atmosphere in the home and so on and so on and so on. And I’m sure that you, as a parent, if you’re a parent listening, I’m sure you’ve gone through this. I’ve, we’ve, we’ve gone through it and we tried to learn from it and take a [00:08:00] step back and say, okay.

[00:08:03] What was the real reason all of this happened? And then you, you realize and you wonder, okay, let me go talk to my daughter. Let me go talk to my son, and let’s get down to the root of the matter. And then you realize it didn’t even have to go that direction. You know? Now, don’t get me wrong, there is sometimes where you have to be very stern and even raise your voice.

[00:08:29] And of course not, not withhold a rod if. If you need to, as Proverbs 13, 24 States that he, that spareth his rod Hadith, his son, but he that loveth he chasteneth him B times. And, um, we all know that we’re all familiar with that scripture. Um. And I always take the example of the, of the many ways where the Brannan dealt with his children and, and, and he gives throughout the message, [00:09:00] he gives several instances of how he dealt with Rebecca and Billy Paul.

[00:09:05] Uh, as well as brother Joseph, um, and Sarah too, to cause them to, to come to reason in different situations and, and to change the atmosphere in, in the home to, to a more positive one. Um, uh, because, you know, remember, we as Christians w we’re little creators. Eh, we’re little creators ourselves, and especially us as parents, and our children naturally will, will not know how to talk to do these, these things specifically if they, especially if they need the Holy ghost in their life.

[00:09:41] They don’t, they won’t know, uh, right away how to create atmospheres, how to change atmospheres. No. Because they’re going to naturally manifest their feelings, their flesh, their, their, that’s what they’re naturally going to do. But, but, you know, we, as we as Holy ghost filled parents, um, it’s our [00:10:00] responsibility to create positive atmospheres in our home.

[00:10:04] Um, by the way, we deal with our children. You know, our children, they pick up. When mom is upset, they pick up when daddy is upset. You know why? Cause the atmosphere in the home has changed and, and when the atmosphere of the home has changed, it opens up channels for Satan to come in and really get things riled up.

[00:10:30] Really get stern, stirring the pot, as, as, as they say, um, to really get the, and so it, and then, then it causes situations that they didn’t even have to happen because of, of you not allowing the right atmosphere. So I hope that, um. You know, I hope that that the, that the following two part interviewed, um, will be a blessing to you as a parent [00:11:00] and, and enlightening to you to help you to be more understanding of your teenage son or daughter and help strengthen your, your relationship with him or her.

[00:11:10] And. And of course, ultimately to help strengthen their relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. So, uh, I’m gonna come back at the end of this first part with some final thoughts. So, um, I hope you enjoy this first part, and I may, God bless you. As you listen,

[00:11:28] Welcome to the Ten Thousand Worlds podcast. My name is Luis Urrego, and here with me, I have my one and only. It’s not my only, but it is my, my first daughter, her full name is Sarah Isabella. She’s over here laughing right now. Okay. She’s , she’s laughing, but to her full name is Sarah Isabella, but we call her Bella for short. So we are going to discuss, um, [00:12:00] how it is the challenges.

[00:12:02] Um, that she has, um, regarding, she had, she’s in seventh grade. She is 12 years old, will be, when do you turn 13?

[00:12:13] Bella Urrego: [00:12:13] Next January.

[00:12:15] Luis Urrego: [00:12:15] And so this coming January, she’s going to be 13 years old. And I’m so grateful to the Lord that God has given me and my wife, Bella, and uh, she’s been a blessing to me.

[00:12:27] But she also, of course, she. As she’s grown and you know, we’ve learned a lot of lessons from her raising her, but also at the same time, she’s learned a lot of things as well. And, uh, one of the things that we’ll get to, we’ll talk with her about here is, uh, the, the, uh, the fact that, um. How it is and the challenges there is, you know, going to public school and things like that.

[00:12:55] So, yeah. One of the things that I’m always reminded is that [00:13:00] just as it says in the book of revelations, when you read the church ages, there, the scriptures says there a to them that to him, that overcometh will I give, uh, uh, authority to sit on my seat or two or such as he over, uh, as he. Got this, Jesus Christ obtained this, so that overcome and will obtain this as well.

[00:13:24] You, you, I’m sure you know what I’m speaking about. Uh, there was a, there was a reward for, for no, for overcoming, uh, the spirits of that age, and it’s no different for this age. Um, so in with it, with that saying, I believe that there are, uh, overcomers elderly overcomers in this age.

[00:13:46] Middle-aged overcomers in this age, and as well as, uh, uh, teenage overcomers in this age. Um, yeah. And younger, uh, overcomers, including children that are overcomers in this age of, [00:14:00] of Laodicea that we live in. And so, in saying that, I believe that. Ah, overcoming you, in order for you to overcome something, you have to be in that atmosphere in order to overcome it.

[00:14:13] And, uh, we’ve, my wife and I, we’ve, we’ve chosen for our daughters to attend public school, but, um. And, and not, not against homeschooling at all whatsoever. We love homeschooling. And as a matter of fact, it’s something that we, we are still in consideration of. But, uh, for now she’s, she is, she is, uh, she is going to public school.

[00:14:38] And so, uh, I want her to share with us what is like, you know, for her as a Christian girl in the message, uh, to, um. To see what it, what it is, you know, uh, what it’s like to be, uh, in those atmospheres. And so, Bella, when you go to school, what is, uh, what is the [00:15:00] main challenges that you find that for you personally?

[00:15:05] Um, when you go to school, being that you are in those types of atmospheres with the, with the, your friends and the people that you’re, that you’re there with.

[00:15:16] Bella Urrego: [00:15:16] Well, when I get to school in the mornings, um, I start to notice every day that I’m the only one that wears skirts. And you sometimes feel, um, you, you sometimes feel very alone because your, you’re the only one.

[00:15:36] And then sometimes to myself, I’ll admit that I wonder sometimes what it’s like to wear pants and to have short hair. And what it would be like to live that way. But then of course, you have to remember that that’s, that’s what the flesh wants you because that’s we’re all humans, you have to remember that you’re not doing it for yourself, but that you’re doing it for the Lord and to please [00:16:00] him.

[00:16:01] Luis Urrego: [00:16:01] Is there like certain Scriptures that might come to your mind that help you remember those things.

[00:16:08] Bella Urrego: [00:16:08] Uh, at the moment, I can’t really remember any.

[00:16:12] Luis Urrego: [00:16:12] Okay, that’s fine. No, no. It’s not this, not this  fine. But as long as you’re thinking in your mind about the spiritual things, uh, so, eh, the battle in your mind, it’s real, right?

[00:16:27] Because  you want to be like everybody else, right? Yes. And it’s not, it’s not a strange thing for a younger person, a Christian person, especially a girl, to want to be liked, wanting to be, wanting to be a, um, a, like everybody else, you know, it doesn’t want to be excluded. Now, Bella, do you have friends in school?

[00:16:54] Bella Urrego: [00:16:54] Yeah, I have. Um, thank God I have friends who accept me for the way I am. [00:17:00] And, um, they enjoy having me around.

[00:17:03] Luis Urrego: [00:17:03] And, and what, and what do those have those specific friends ever asked you why you wear skirts and, you know, dress the way you dress?

[00:17:16] Bella Urrego: [00:17:16] I’m sure they have once or twice. And at the time it was kind of hard to explain because a lot of things had been revealed to me and I just thought at the time that, Oh, I have to wear skirts because.

[00:17:29] It’s what God says. And I never understood that it was because modesty and to please him, I just thought that it was just a regular thing and I just had to wear skirts.

[00:17:40] Luis Urrego: [00:17:40] So why, how, what about modesty have you learned that, uh, that is so important to dress properly? Like what made you think about that? It’s not something that you have to do. But that [00:18:00] you should do and what did, how did you learn that?

[00:18:06] Bella Urrego: [00:18:06] Once I started getting older and started realizing how the world actually was and how it’s darker than what it seems like when you’re younger, I started to realize that modesty is one of the most important things for the age we live in now because when brother Branham drew that chart are our circle was supposed to be completely dark, and  you can see it, you can hear it in the news, and you can read it in the newspapers. It’s, it’s not. There’s only a little bit of light and it’s hard to obtain that light. So I believe that modesty is one of the most important things as a Christian, because if, if modesty,

[00:18:53] is not put into the body of Christ, then that’s not something, it should be something [00:19:00] that’s very important. And if it’s not put into the body of Christ, you should pray because of, if not, and you don’t feel like it’s not something good to be modest and you don’t like to be modest, you there’s something wrong.

[00:19:14] Luis Urrego: [00:19:14] How old are you Bella?

[00:19:15] Bella Urrego: [00:19:15] I’m 12.

[00:19:17] Luis Urrego: [00:19:17] And you’ll be 13 again when?

[00:19:20] Bella Urrego: [00:19:20] January.

[00:19:21] Luis Urrego: [00:19:21] Okay. I know that, but I just wanted her to say it. Um, so Bella, why do you think a 13 year old or a 12 year old almost to be 13. Why do you think it’s important for, for that girl to dress modest for, let’s say, for example, in your S in your school, why is it important for her not to show off her body?

[00:19:46] Bella Urrego: [00:19:46] Well, in school it’s. Before you get to school or anywhere, you have to pray and thank God and ask him to keep you safe because a school is full of spirits and I have [00:20:00] nothing against public school. I love it there, but it’s, it’s still full of spirits and Satan follows you wherever you go, even into church.

[00:20:09] So whenever someone says that they’re modest, to me that means that they’re, they’re covering their body. And, um, whenever I see someone, they say they are Christian, that I believe that they’re a Christian. It’s just, it hasn’t been revealed to them. But you want, it’s good to be modest in a public school, especially when you’re a teenager and you’re going through those stages of life.

[00:20:37] It’s, eh, school’s not, there’s a lot of perversion in school, in schools now. And it’s good to know your boundaries in school

[00:20:49] or anywhere. What kind of perversion?

[00:20:52] Um, I don’t want to say this to make anyone look bad, but people will look at you [00:21:00] and, and your body, and it could be anyone and you don’t know who, and you don’t want that person to start thinking about things.

[00:21:12] And, um, and you don’t want to get into trouble because of it.

[00:21:18] Luis Urrego: [00:21:18] because what the Bible says, you know that if a phone woman, uh, if a man  lusts after a woman, then, um, then he has committed adultery with her in his heart. So you don’t want to present yourself to that in front of. Guys in a way that will make them lust, because then that means like brother Brandon said, um, that means that that person, that man lusted with you in his heart, but you were the one who presented yourself to that man in that way, even though you didn’t do anything.

[00:21:57] Right.

[00:21:58] Bella Urrego: [00:21:58] Absolutely.

[00:22:00] [00:21:59] Luis Urrego: [00:21:59] So, uh, I speak about these things. Um. Candidly with my daughter because she understands, uh, some of these things. My wife and I, we’ve, we’ve discussed, um, the, the matters of life with her, and she understands these things. And so that’s why she can, she talks this way. Um, but we had to, because of the, some of the things that she was seeing in school and she was being exposed to that.

[00:22:32] Uh. You have to, um, there’s nothing you can do to change it. I can’t go in there and protest or anything like that. Uh, but you do have to. Um, it’s almost like, all right, I’m there. I’m there to try to get an education and I’m eating. Like brother Graham said, I’m eating cherry pie, but when they’re seeds, I don’t throw away the pie.

[00:22:58] I just throw away the [00:23:00] seeds. Right. So Bella, how do you handle, for example, um, you know, let’s say you’re, you’re in class and a teacher is, uh, talking about a certain topic that, um, that, you know, scripturally in the Bible, you don’t agree that it’s an, it’s a different way. You see it a different way that it’s against.

[00:23:24] When you’ve been raised to believe according to the Bible, how do you handle

[00:23:28] Bella Urrego: [00:23:28] it? I think that it’s not, even though you don’t believe in that exact topic, it’s good that you at least to know, um, what other people believe and just just keep your mouth shut because the teachers are only given what they’re supposed to be taught, where they’re supposed to teach.

[00:23:53] But, um, I think just, just if you don’t believe in that certain topic, just keep your mouth shut. [00:24:00] Cause you could get into problems if you say something. And, um, and of course it’s, um, there’s a lot of things in school that they’re going to teach you and it’s gonna be wrong and you’re going, you’re going to know when it’s wrong, cause it’ll all be revealed to you.

[00:24:20] Um, . So I think that if there is a subject or a topic that the teacher is teaching, it’s not according to the Bible. Just do your best to understand it,

[00:24:37] Luis Urrego: [00:24:37] but

[00:24:39] Bella Urrego: [00:24:39] keep your, keep the knowledge that God has given you through, through his word, keep it inside of you and keep it inside of you. Um, by that I mean, just don’t say it because it’ll confuse people and it’ll cause confusion.

[00:24:56] Luis Urrego: [00:24:56] Do you, do you remember one of the things that I’ve, of mommy and me, [00:25:00] I’ve always told you that when you hear these things, okay, you can’t stop it. But there’s one thing that I’ve always told you and that is don’t let it get too. To your

[00:25:14] Bella Urrego: [00:25:14] head,

[00:25:15] Luis Urrego: [00:25:15] to your heart, right? It’s going to get to your head, but just don’t let it get to your heart.

[00:25:24] In other words, um, there’s things in life, as Jesus said, we’re in the world, but we’re not of the world. Right? And then in public schools, you’re gonna mingle with people who are worldly and people who don’t hold the same values. That you do, but, um, what, um, what you need to do is just stand firms.

[00:25:47] Then stay fast, steadfast on what you believe. And, um, have you, let’s, let’s say Baylor, have you ever, have you ever made fun of, or have you ever, [00:26:00] um, you know, been ridiculed by anybody about. About the way you believe or about wearing skirts or having long

[00:26:09] Bella Urrego: [00:26:09] hair made fun of I, I’ve never been made fun of, thank God, but I have been asked why not?

[00:26:20] Not about my hair, but about my skirts. Because in my school, there are a lot of people who have long hair and not a lot of people in my school cut their hair. But it’s mostly been about my skirts. And it used to bother me at the time cause I felt so isolated and different and you just want to fit in and you want to be liked in school.

[00:26:44] But then once things started being revealed to me and I started understanding more and it didn’t, it doesn’t bother me many more because it’s like I said in the beginning, you’re doing it for the Lord and that’s all that

[00:26:57] Luis Urrego: [00:26:57] matters. [00:27:00] Yeah. So it’s very important to have a revelation of things, right?

[00:27:06] So that, because that’s what’s gonna help you. Because, uh, if you just do things just because your parents said, or your pastor said, then it’s not that, that’s not a revelation that’s just you doing out of that, out of your head, you know? But when something is revealed to you, then you know the reason why you do what you do.

[00:27:29] And, uh, it helps you to, to be an overcomer, helps you to everybody. It helps you to, to continue moving forward. So, um, Bella, what’s the, um, what’s one of the most challenging, uh, the things that you see or what one of the, what’s one of the trends that is out there that you see that it’s really, uh.

[00:27:57] Causing a problem. [00:28:00] Maybe even trying to enter into even like Christian kids that use notice. It’s a, it’s an issue. Um,

[00:28:09] Bella Urrego: [00:28:09] let’s see. There are a lot of things that in my school are trending, but I think for, for girls

[00:28:21] Luis Urrego: [00:28:21] I

[00:28:23] Bella Urrego: [00:28:23] think it’s.

[00:28:27] I, I’m, it’s kind of hard for me to answer because I’m not, I’m not, I’m not in the world, so I don’t know. But what I see in school is, and I think it’s presenting yourself in a certain way, and then also that, and then there’s also. Um, there’s also certain dance moves that can be seductive. And, um, so I think that’s one of the [00:29:00] things, two of the things that, um, is hard to see.

[00:29:06] Luis Urrego: [00:29:06] You know, some of the names of some of these moves. I, but I know she does.

[00:29:13] Bella Urrego: [00:29:13] Yeah.

[00:29:14] Luis Urrego: [00:29:14] That way, that way, like parents, if they hear this, they can, they can

[00:29:19] Bella Urrego: [00:29:19] know. Okay. Well, um, one of the main ones that I’ve seen is, um, to working.

[00:29:31] Luis Urrego: [00:29:31] Mmm .

[00:29:32] Bella Urrego: [00:29:32] That’s one of the ones I mostly see. I can’t. I, that’s the only one that’s I’ve seen most.

[00:29:39] I haven’t seen any others, but that’s one of the ones that I’ve seen

[00:29:43] Luis Urrego: [00:29:43] a lot and does that, who does that type of dancing? More guys and girls? It’s

[00:29:49] Bella Urrego: [00:29:49] for both guys and girls. I’ve only seen it in two people

[00:29:55] Luis Urrego: [00:29:55] and

[00:29:56] Bella Urrego: [00:29:56] both of them have been in guy and the other one was a girl. I, [00:30:00] I, I mean, it’s basically the same.

[00:30:03] Because it’s, it’s for anyone. If they’re out in the world and they haven’t, it hasn’t been revealed to them that it’s wrong at for me. I see it. I don’t believe in it, and I don’t, I don’t like it, but I’ve seen it with guys and girls, so I think it’s basically the same amount for both.

[00:30:24] Luis Urrego: [00:30:24] yeah, they do it in front of teachers.

[00:30:26] Bella Urrego: [00:30:26] Um. If I, if I, the students that I’ve seen who have done it, they’ve never done it in front of the teacher.

[00:30:34] Luis Urrego: [00:30:34] Okay.

[00:30:35] Bella Urrego: [00:30:35] But they have done it in front of family members and the family member hasn’t said anything about it. And it kind of makes you, it makes you sad, you know, cause they don’t know any better.

[00:30:47] Luis Urrego: [00:30:47] Yeah. So that’s what I was going to ask you. What goes through your mind when, when you see them doing that? Um.

[00:30:55] Bella Urrego: [00:30:55] I think it’s this topic right here. This question [00:31:00] is something that is something hard for a believer because if that’s something that helps it, that that makes you fit in with people, it’s . If you’re, it hasn’t, if it hasn’t been revealed to you, then it’s something that you might want to do, but for me.

[00:31:21] I, it makes me, it makes me feel bad. And it makes you want to tell them. It makes you want to explain it to them that that’s wrong, but you can’t because they don’t, they don’t know. They were never taught, taught in a way where that’s wrong.

[00:31:42] Luis Urrego: [00:31:42] And

[00:31:43] Bella Urrego: [00:31:43] so it kind of, it kind of makes you feel bad. And.

[00:31:50] Um, I see a, even in younger generations now, because when I was younger, I never saw those kinds of things. Younger [00:32:00] children were still sweet and innocent. Uh, in my perspective, they were. But these new technologies and these new and all social media is changing. These six, seven, and eight year olds.

[00:32:18] Into these snobby 13 year olds that that just don’t like to socialize and the age that we live in socializing and seeing and saying hi to other people, even if you don’t talk to them a lot, it’s very, for the generation now, it’s very foreign and it’s not the age that we live in. People, children.

[00:32:45] Even me, my age, we don’t like to socialize. And so it kind of, it makes you feel bad because you know it’s wrong, but you can’t say anything because they’ve never been taught any [00:33:00] different.

[00:33:01] Luis Urrego: [00:33:01] Okay, so, so you see that it’s a problem that they’re not social, how are they not socializing?

[00:33:10] Bella Urrego: [00:33:10] I think what I’ve seen.

[00:33:13] In a lot, and I can say a lot of children has been that, not with maybe infants and toddlers, but more with  more with first, second and all the way up. Mostly with elementary schoolers, they think that they’re at these, they think what they do is mature. As in not socializing because they’re influenced by older children.

[00:33:43] So with a lot of kids, I said hi or hello to them, and they’ve just looked at me like I was like, as if I had, um, like flowers growing out of my head. They thought I was weird [00:34:00] because I just redid them and it was, it was with third graders. And so. Aye. It just, you know, like, that’s why it’s kind of hard for the generation now to make  you friends and whenever the parents tell them, Hey, go talk to that person, they’re alone.

[00:34:21] Kid doesn’t want to because it’s weird for them because they’re. It’s either that they’re scared or they just don’t want to because they’re scared of what other people will think of them. And I think that’s another thing that a Christian struggles with a lot, with the opinion of other people.

[00:34:42] Luis Urrego: [00:34:42] Really. Yeah. So, okay. Have you ever had to struggle with that in school while you’re in school?

[00:34:51] Bella Urrego: [00:34:51] Um, I think maybe in sixth grade I did struggle with that a bit. [00:35:00] With people. I wanted people to see me as this normal person. It was probably because I was just about to go into middle school and they wanted to be accepted and I was at the time, I don’t know why I thought that I wasn’t, but I just wanted to be more like the people of the world and I wanted to act more like them.

[00:35:21] And so I remembered the grid. I started to get this attitude. And it was a very snobby and annoying attitude. And I feel bad for acting that way, but it was because I was influenced by the other

[00:35:38] Luis Urrego: [00:35:38] students,

[00:35:39] Bella Urrego: [00:35:39] because that’s how they act. And that’s, that’s how, and that’s what I thought was cool.

[00:35:47] Luis Urrego: [00:35:47] And

[00:35:48] Bella Urrego: [00:35:48] I remember another sequence.

[00:35:51] Um, where I found this skirt and my closet, and I hadn’t worn it in a while. I tried it on and it was over my knees [00:36:00] and I thought I wanted to wait, I wanted to wear it.

[00:36:06] Luis Urrego: [00:36:06] And

[00:36:06] Bella Urrego: [00:36:06] I remember looking back. When I found that skirt, I knew it was wrong. It was over my knees. I knew it was wrong.

[00:36:15] Luis Urrego: [00:36:15] It was past your knees?

[00:36:17] Yes. Higher?

[00:36:19] Bella Urrego: [00:36:19] Yes. Hi. Okay. Um, it was, I knew it was wrong too, to show my knees, but. There were kids that wore shorts, and if that was the closest thing, I had to shorts and I wanted to wear it

[00:36:35] Luis Urrego: [00:36:35] which

[00:36:37] Bella Urrego: [00:36:37] is obviously wrong, and I’m not encouraging that for anyone out there.  um, you just have to, you know, at the time it wasn’t revealed to me that that was wrong and I didn’t know why I needed to cover up my knees.

[00:36:53] but, um, I. I think that since [00:37:00] everything’s revealed to me, I’m very cautious about what I wear. And even when I’m looking for clothes for myself, I try them on and sometimes I just feel very uncomfortable. Like with some of my shirts, I have to message you. Make sure it’s okay because sometimes you just, you just don’t know if it’s right or not.

[00:37:22] And my younger sister, Zoe, she’s come with issues that come with me to stores and she’s, she has pulled out this shirt or something and she says she likes it. And, um, and it’s, um, it’s been sleepless. For one, it’s bent or it’s Spanish. Or it was short to where it was showing the stomach or it was just like very low in the back or in the front.

[00:37:52] Luis Urrego: [00:37:52] Yeah.

[00:37:52] Bella Urrego: [00:37:52] And I’ve had to tell her that that’s not good. And she’s gotten upset with me because of it. But I mean, you can’t get mad [00:38:00] at the younger generation for that, cause they don’t understand.

[00:38:03] Luis Urrego: [00:38:03] You know. And there you have it. Our first, uh, the first part of this app, uh, of this episode of this interview with my daughter Bella.

[00:38:11] I hope that something was said that would help you as a parent or maybe even as a young person listening. Um, that goes to a public school, um, encourage you that you can be an overcomer even in an atmosphere. Um, uh, such as public schools. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are good public schools out there and, uh, you know, that they’re really, um, in tune with what’s going on and they try to do the best they can to, uh, siphon those things out.

[00:38:45] But ultimately, um. With different beliefs in the, in the school system and with different, you know, people, obviously the Holy ghost, uh, uh, isn’t in, it doesn’t dwell on everybody. [00:39:00] Um, people are gonna have different ways and different ways of seeing things, and the kids are gonna. They grew up living and believing certain things.

[00:39:09] And then, so they’re just going to live those things out and they express him at school and the way they live at home and things like that. So, but if you as a parent, you know, train your child and the way they should go, the Bible says that when they get, when, when they get older, they should not depart.

[00:39:25] So also, I wanted to add that, you know, the Bible says in, um. In Isaiah chapter one, verse 18, it says, uh, come now and let us reason together, Seth, the Lord though your sins be as Scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like Crimson, they shall be as wool. And my main purpose for mentioning that scripture is that you know what.

[00:39:55] God wants to sit down with us and talk about our issues. He wants to [00:40:00] reason with us. He wants to know what you think, what’s going on in your life. He wants to listen, and that’s part of what reasoning is. When he says the word, their reasoning is being a listener. And then give your advice after you listen.

[00:40:21] So many times we give our advice, our advice, and we have not even heard our children. We have not even heard our teenage son or daughter, and therefore they don’t listen to us because we did not listen to them. And then, you know, that applies to anybody as one thing that I grew up with is that make sure that you listened to people, because in turn, when you listen to people.

[00:40:45] When it’s time for you to say something, when it’s time for you to talk, they’ll in turn, listen back to you because you listened to them and that and that. And that goes for our children. So always, you know, make sure [00:41:00] before you jump in straight, right at, right at the moment, and let your frustration be taken out on your, on your child.

[00:41:07] Stop. And let’s say, let’s say, sweetheart, you know, let’s, let’s sit down. And talk, let’s, let’s talk about this. Tell me what’s going on. And you know, oftentimes that’s all they need to open up. And once they open up, then it opens up a channel where now you can advise them, you can help them through the word.

[00:41:33] And that in, in that right there in itself is creating an atmosphere. And, and, and it’s, it’s opening up a channel for the Holy spirit to come in and do a work and your sons and daughters life. And in turn, of course, doing a work in you. And so I hope that that this, ah, you glean something from this.

[00:41:54] And, um, on the next episode, we’re going to come, uh, we’re going to, uh, present [00:42:00] part two of the, of our interview with my daughter, Bella. And so I encourage you, as I said at the beginning of the episode, you know, share the podcast with others that others know. Um, as well as, um, uh, just, uh, find us on the different platforms and, uh, let us know, you know, how we can be of better service to you because that’s our whole purpose.

[00:42:23] Remember. Everything that you do, the only things that matter is what you do for others and what you do for Christ. And remember that your soul is worth 10,000 words. So always do everything you can to continue to feed that soul. I wish you a wonderful day. I wish you a wonderful week. And, um, may God richly bless you and, uh, continue growing in the faith and the knowledge and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

[00:42:55] God bless you until the next episode, you take [00:43:00] care.
